Remarque :
Jules Audemars and Edward Piguet were both in their early twenties when they founded Audemars Piguet in 1875. In 1972 AP launched a line of mechanical watches with hexagonal screws that fastened a porthole-like bezel. Thus was born the Royal Oak, in honor of the British Royal Navy's line of ships bearing the same name. The Royal Oak is among many of the most specialized and complex watches produced by this famous manufactory. In 1875, Jules-Louis Audemars answered the demand for luxury timepieces when he went into business with his childhood friend Edward-Auguste Piguet. Their goal was to compete with the exquisite timepieces coming out of the Geneva, Switzerland at that time. Immediately they turned out some of the most luxurious timepieces available, watches that continue to amaze today. Audemars took over the technical management of the business, while Piguet handled the sales and marketing. It is, however, easy to see why Audemars Piguet watches have endured the test of time. Not only has the company adapted itself to economic obstacles, such as creating a slimmer luxury timepiece in response to metal needed for World War I, and creating a new line of steel sports watches to combat the watchmaking crisis in 1970; the watch itself has proved to be both elegant and eye-catching. Over a hundred and twenty five years later, Audemars Piguet watches continue to impress with its high-class appeal. Its intricate workmanship and attention to aesthetic beauty has made Audemars Piguet watches popular with successful businesspeople and people who appreciate quality alike.
